Before Our Collaboration
Whiten Up Teeth Whitening Spa in North Carolina prides itself on delivering a modern and comfortable patient experience. Like many dental practices, the clinic’s team understands that the environment plays a big role in how patients feel the moment they walk through the door. In dentistry, patient anxiety is an everyday occurrence, but it’s not as difficult to manage as one might think.
While the clinic offered excellent dental care, the reception space felt somewhat minimal from a design perspective. The large wall behind the front desk was blank, leaving the area looking a bit too clinical.
Because the reception area is the first space patients see when they enter, this wall had significant potential to shape the overall atmosphere of the clinic.
The team at Whiten Up wanted to transform their reception space into something more welcoming and calming without compromising the professional aesthetic. Their goal was to introduce an element of nature into the space while keeping the design clean, modern, and easy to maintain.
The Problem
In healthcare settings (and especially dental clinics), first impressions matter. Patients often arrive feeling nervous or anxious about their appointments, so a cold or overly sterile environment can unintentionally amplify those feelings.
Many of our clients start by looking into decorating with real greenery. Now, introducing greenery into a dental clinic may seem like an easy solution, but live plants often create more complications than expected.
For example, the reception area at Whiten Up didn’t receive enough consistent natural light to support a living plant wall. Without sufficient light, plants will struggle to survive and quickly lose their visual appeal.
Maintenance was another key concern, so living plants that require regular watering, pruning, fertilizing, and monitoring aren’t the best choice - the staff didn’t have the time to maintain a large plant installation.
Additionally, healthcare environments must prioritize cleanliness and hygiene. Soil, moisture, and decaying plant matter can create unnecessary maintenance issues or sanitation concerns. But with our SafeTex technology, this would not be the case.
So, the clinic needed a solution that would deliver the calming, natural aesthetic of greenery without introducing extra work or operational challenges. Lucky for us, Whiten Up got in touch with our team for a free consultation, and we got to work.
During the Process

When Whiten Up shared their primary vision with our plant stylists, the focus was on finding a design solution that would elevate the reception area while remaining practical for a busy healthcare environment.
Our team assessed the layout of the space and immediately identified the large wall behind the reception desk as the ideal location for a feature installation: it sits directly within the patient’s line of sight when entering the clinic, and it offers a perfect opportunity to create a striking visual centerpiece.
The Solution

To achieve a natural and sophisticated look, we recommended the Evergreen Triptych Artificial Vertical Garden, a 3-panel greenery system designed to create a lush living-wall effect.
The final installation features the triptych, with each panel having a slightly different foliage arrangement. The installation avoids repetitive patterns and instead creates the natural variation seen in real plant walls.
The panels feature dense layers of mixed greenery that replicate the texture and visual depth of living foliage. This creates a lush, vibrant feature that looks realistic from both near and far. Plus, the artificial foliage will maintain its appearance year-round, ensuring the installation continues to look vibrant without ongoing maintenance.
For the clinic’s team, this meant they could enjoy the aesthetic benefits of a living wall without worrying about plant care or upkeep.
After the Process

The transformation of the reception space was immediate.
The once-empty wall behind the front desk is now a lush vertical garden that brings warmth, texture, and life into the clinic. The greenery softens the clinical atmosphere and creates a calmer environment for patients arriving for appointments.
The installation has also become a defining design feature of the clinic. The vertical garden is visually arresting and adds depth to the interior while reinforcing the clinic’s modern, patient-focused approach.
Next Steps
With the success of the reception installation, Whiten Up is exploring additional ways to incorporate greenery into the space. Future possibilities include adding smaller greenery accents in consultation rooms, treatment areas, or hallways to continue the calming design theme throughout the clinic.
By gradually introducing more biophilic elements, the teeth whitening spa can continue to enhance the patient experience while maintaining the clean and professional environment expected in a healthcare setting.
