Before Our Collaboration

This project is unique for our team at Designer Plants, both in scope and in surroundings. The transformation first came to life in a YouTube video by Jay Tomsky, a professional videographer and creator.

His friend, Steve Bashi, a lover of artistic and unique decor, had long envisioned incorporating a faux green wall into his modern home. Inspired by his interest in integrating nature with modern design in unconventional ways, Bashi reached out to our team to recommend custom artificial green walls for his home.

The video documents the journey, shows the creative process, the collaboration, and the excitement of bringing the wall to life.

The Problem

Steve was looking for ways to incorporate lush, natural-looking greenery into his contemporary home without compromising his decor style. Besides that, he also wanted to make sure this new element won’t require intensive maintenance down the line.

He sought a solution that could combine art with structural precision and include custom framing capable of supporting unique plant arrangements.

He reached out to our team and, together with them, decided on a mix of artificial green walls that check all the boxes - fully green, rich, dense, and capable of juxtaposing the modernity of the home.

During the Process

Collaboration was central to this project’s success. The client worked closely with our team to select the faux green wall panels, but decided to complete the installation without the help of a specialized team, except for his skilled friend, Jeff.

Thankfully, our vertical garden panels are made so that anyone, even a newbie with few resources, can install them on a wall safely.

Jeff isn’t a newbie, but his skills could rival those of a whole crew. He cut, customized, set up, and attached the panels to the wall by himself, using a drill.

Throughout the process, the team maintained open communication to align on design, tools, and practical considerations. Our installation guide includes mentions of all the necessary tools you’d need for similar projects.

The Solution

The final installation featured a fully customized artificial green wall, all designed to supplement the interior space and double as a living piece of art. The metal frame used to complete the faux vertical garden installation provided the necessary depth and structure to the piece, which made it look complete.

The frame was also custom-built to fit the wall’s dimensions and architectural features. Its sharp lines expanded on the clean-lined aesthetic the client was looking for, which also made the greenery appear both organic and refined.

The team installed the green wall in the main living area, making it a striking focal point that balances natural-looking, low-maintenance greenery with contemporary design. Following our installation guide, the client managed to complete the project quickly and efficiently.

A feature that impressed the crew working on the project was our interlocking panel system, which allowed one panel to snap seamlessly into another. This way, no matter how you cut or customize your panels, you can connect them easily without extra effort.

But what truly set this installation apart was its fusion of artistry and engineering. The process combined creative direction and vision, craftsmanship, and technical expertise to produce a one-of-a-kind statement piece

When the project was complete, our client’s reaction spoke volumes. Standing in front of the finished wall, he described it as “exactly what I pictured in my head - but better.”

The results were immediate: the blank wall now looked alive and full of personality. The vibrant greens complemented the home’s black framing and sharp lines, while also softening the overall look.

Jeff commented on the wall’s realism, noting that it “doesn’t even look fake,” which goes to show how hard our RealTex technology is working and making the greenery indistinguishable from real plants.

Bashi also expressed appreciation for how seamless the project had been. He noted that everyone working on this transformation understood his vision from the outset and successfully translated it into something tangible, durable, and timeless.

Next Steps

Following the raging success of this installation, we’re thrilled to see our products reaching wider audiences through engaging videos and showcases. While we can wax poetic about our own products all day long, our customers’ words always hold more weight.

Our team at Designer Plants is excited to spread the advantages of artificial greenery to people all over the US. We’re trying to show people that you still have options to decorate, even if you have a black thumb.

This collaboration was the perfect example of what’s possible when you’re creative and crafty. Together with the client, we proved that artificial greenery can be an art form, going beyond a simple design choice.

As we look ahead, we’re already exploring new ways to bring this kind of custom, biophilic design into more homes, offices, and commercial spaces.
