Before Our Collaboration
Some time ago, a homeowner was enjoying time in their backyard when they noticed something missing - the outdoor fence was lacking.
A plain metal barrier stretched across the backyard and offered little visual interest, which, in turn, failed to complement the surrounding garden. While the space was used for relaxation and entertaining, the fence’s industrial look provided a cold, unfinished backdrop.
These homeowners dreamed of a different kind of look in their garden - one without the hassle of maintaining real plants, which would struggle to thrive along the metal fence. They’d already seen their neighbors undertaking similar projects with real plants and knew it wasn’t the option for them due to lighting and environmental concerns.
So they did what any other homeowners would do: look for options on Google. After some time researching, they came across our comprehensive collection of artificial green walls and reached out to our expert team for bespoke advice.
The Problem
The main challenge was covering a metal fence with an artificial green wall in a way that was secure, visually seamless, and non-damaging. While our clients wanted to cover the entire metal surface, they didn’t want the installers to pierce through the fence itself.

During the Process
Our team started by assessing the fence’s dimensions, orientation, and structural characteristics. Together with the client, we decided to use one of our green wall bestsellers, the Luxury White Oasis.
While our panels are easy to install by yourself, even if you’re a novice DIYer, this client opted for a professional installation, largely due to the wooden battens.
Following our own guidelines and working closely with the client, we mounted the panels onto wooden battens attached to the metal fence. We’ve used this method to avoid permanent change to a surface numerous times before, especially for projects that need to be temporary, like those in rented spaces.
The Solution
This approach offered several advantages:

Each 40 x 40-inch panel was carefully connected to its neighbors thanks to the interlinking plug and lug system, trimmed to fit the fence height, and aligned to create a continuous, lush surface.

Our team paid close attention to alignment, spacing, and visual rhythm, ensuring the final display looked natural and cohesive. The modular system also allowed us to complete the installation efficiently, minimizing disruption for the homeowners.
By combining wooden battens with our panels, the once-plain metal fence was transformed into a stunning vertical garden in less than a few days.
