The Client Challenge

They wanted to include poolside plants but didn’t have the skills to keep them thriving for long. So, instead of killing innocent plants and suffering the ire of Mother Nature anytime there’s a storm, they wanted to go a different route.

The Design Objective

Our client browsed the internet, looked at some inspirational ideas, and decided to go with an artificial green wall. They took a few days to peruse various collections before selecting us.

They called us up and asked a few questions about the quality of our faux vertical gardens, the warranties, and specifics about their project. They also asked us to suggest a few panels that could work with the space.

The Solution

Eventually, they chose the Luxury Flowering Hawaiian Sunrise Artificial Vertical Garden. 

But although they loved the panel, they concluded it was missing a little white. So, they also ordered a few Hanging White Artificial Bougainvillea Plants to pin in with all the green.

Installation Approach

Depending on the surface the faux green wall will attach to, the installation process looks different. For this project, we were working with a colorbond fence, so we couldn’t use zip ties or cable ties.

Instead, the installers needed to get their hands dirty and affix the faux green wall panels onto the fence using screws and drills. Unfortunately, that would mean the colorbond fence would be at risk of damage. To stay on the safe side and ensure the neighbors don’t complain about the new decor, the client opted for a different approach.

To ensure no fines come their way, this client installed wooden planks upright from the imitation planter. These served as the real installation surface that could take the brunt of the damage from the drilling and nailing. Then, they moved the leaves out of the way and used a stapler to attach the panel to the wood paneling.

If you’re also working with timber, you don’t need fancy equipment to get your panels on your fence. Instead, you need a good staple gun from your local hardware store, a steady hand, and to ensure the staple is gripping a part of the grid on the back of the panel. The Result

The artificial vertical garden provided a calming sense to the pool area and wrapped around the entire backyard. It covered the colorbond fence and, with the wooden planks at the bottom, gave the impression that it’s growing from a planter. This imitation planter is something we’ve already done for another client and it’s a technique we’re keen on perfecting.

Why Artificial Greenery Worked So Well

The client can now swim and splash the fauxliege without looming worries about damaging the leaves. Since the faux green walls can withstand harsh weather, a little splash here and there has nothing on them.

Now, the client’s family can enjoy dips in the pool without having to clean up fallen leaves every third day or keep a watering roster.
