Before & After Transformation

This client had an epiphany some time ago - the poolside can do with a little makeover. While their backyard was already nice-looking, the client thought it could do with a bit more shine.

So, after talking with the rest of the family, they decided to see what was on offer and how they could level up their poolside. After parsing through their options, they opted for an artificial green wall.

The goals for the project we clear and fulfilled, so the installation ticked all the client’s boxes. They now had a standout feature that could get wet without wilting and survive various types of inclement weather.

With limited room around the pool, we kept the layout open and ensured chairs could fit and foot traffic could flow without any crowding.

The Client Challenge

The homeowners thought that one side of the poolside felt a little too exposed, so they wanted to obstruct the view by covering the fence with dense, low-maintenance greenery. The other sides were bounded by glass fences that did wonders for separating the space.

The Design Objective

If there’s one thing we love most - it’s a client with a vision - and this client had exactly that.

Before starting, they knew they wanted to update only one side of the pool. Since the others were already aesthetically pleasing enough with the glass fence, the client wanted a material that could contrast the sleek, minimalistic lines of the glass.

The fence itself needed some muscle to handle the extra weight without going wobbly. The client also wanted extra height for privacy and security but still needed the gate to stay fully functional and tucked behind the panels.

So, we opted for a custom route to meet the client’s style with every detail down to the hidden gate.

The Solution

Space was a prime concern. The poolside was on the tighter side, so we recommended a product with a lot of coverage, and thus our suggestion was to use the Dark Artificial Boxwood Wall.

Installation Approach

Like our other projects, the installation began with careful preparation and planning. The client wanted to be involved in the transformation, so we worked closely with them to develop a framework and installation strategy to meet their needs.

Given the conditions around the pool area and the constant moisture the green wall would be exposed to, our first task was to build a durable frame using treated timber beams.

Timber beams are an element we often use in our outdoor installations, as they’re necessary support to handle the weight of the panels long-term. We even learned how to use them to make a freestanding faux green wall!

Once the frame was in place, we installed the panels, screwed them into the frame, and double-checked their stability.

Then, we cut the panels to fit the dimensions of the gate and made it blend into the green wall.

The Result

The final result was a cohesive and lush artificial vertical garden that took the aesthetics up a notch and provided the client with the privacy and design they were looking for.

Why Artificial Greenery Worked So Well

Since the panels are durable and UV-resistant, they should last for at least 5 years and beyond before showing any signs of deterioration.

Lastly, this project doesn’t require any complicated upkeep - no watering, trimming, or pest control needed - leaving a feature always ready for poolside lounging.

Practical Tips

- You don’t have to cover your entire poolside to pack a punch.

- Since greenery turns heads and captures attention easily, it doesn’t take much to make a scene. Sometimes, we’ve even recommended adding fewer panels to get an easy-to-maintain focal point.

- For pool environments with constant moisture exposure, build a durable frame using treated timber beams first — they provide the necessary support to handle the weight of the panels long-term and can even be used to make a freestanding faux green wall.
