Before installation, the wall showed a large expanse of weathered terracotta paneling with significant paint failure at the base.

After installation, that same wall is now a lush, full green surface, with layered foliage and small white floral details distributed across the panel. The neon sign sits centered in the upper half of the installation, reading crisply in white script against the dark green backdrop.

The Client Challenge

The flooring of the space had been freshly laid in a checkered gray tile pattern. Overhead Edison string bulbs added warmth and atmosphere.

But the main back wall was badly deteriorated. The terracotta-red paint was peeling heavily at the base, with exposed gray render showing through in patches across the lower third of the wall.

The client didn't want to repaint. They wanted a permanent solution to cover the damage, elevate the space, and work as a visual anchor for the whole courtyard. And they wanted to mount a custom neon sign on it.

The Design Objective

The brief was specific: cover the wall, create something worth photographing, and give the neon sign a backdrop that made it pop day and night. The wall needed to do two jobs at once: conceal a problem and create an opportunity.

The Result

In daylight, the contrast between the rich green panels and the warm terracotta cladding surrounding them is bold and intentional. At night, the transformation is even more pronounced, as the green wall glows in the illuminated zone around the sign while the rest of the foliage recedes into deep shadow.
