How a Client Regained Backyard Privacy With an Artificial Green Wall

A client in Miami was feeling like their backyard lacked both privacy and atmosphere, even though it had the foundation to look spectacular. They already had a sturdy fence, but it was wooden and bare, so all it did was serve as a barrier.

Project Location

Miami

Application:

Residential

Key Outcome:

  • Maximized backyard privacy with a well-chosen artificial green wall
  • Transformed a wooden fence into a private, vibrant backyard
  • Provided aesthetic appeal to an otherwise basic fence

Before & After Transformation

While the fence provided enough coverage, it wasn’t tall enough to block neighboring views, and the overall look didn’t match the modern space the client was trying to create.

They began exploring options, considering everything from planting tall hedges to installing traditional privacy screens. After researching, the homeowner found our collection and became interested in the benefits of dense, UV-resistant artificial green walls as a way to both upgrade the fence and add height without major construction.

The results speak for themselves. The backyard is now fully enclosed and private, and the outdoor space is both inviting and secure.

The Client Challenge

The core issue for this client was twofold: privacy and appearance

They needed a way to stop visibility from surrounding properties and elevate the aesthetic of their outdoor area.

They thought about going the traditional landscaping route at first, but then determined that real greenery wasn’t the best option, as it wouldn’t grow tall enough, fast enough, or thrive in the shaded sections of the yard, which would have the fence looking patchy.

The client and their family agreed that they needed something that looked natural, covered the fence completely, and provided reliable opacity year-round, rain or shine

The Design Objective

Once the client got in touch with our expert team and sent us a few photos of their space, we worked closely with them to identify the right artificial green wall panels for the job. The focus, as mentioned, was on density and opacity - the denser the foliage, the more effective the privacy barrier.

We walked through multiple panel options, highlighting variations in leaf shapes, discussed our proprietary technologies, and aimed to ensure the final installation would feel natural, rather than flat or artificial.

The Solution

Together with the client, we settled on one of our bestsellers, the Lush Fern Artificial Green Wall, a faux green wall panel that is so dense and rich, you’ll have to squint to notice it’s not real.

Once we had chosen the panels, the next challenge was height. Rather than covering the existing fence, we proposed expanding it vertically using additional panels to improve the client's backyard privacy and create a more imposing boundary. The client was actively involved in the layout and installation to ensure that the final result matched their vision.

Installation Approach

While our artificial green walls are made to be DIY-friendly and easy to install even for novices, the client chose a professional installation crew to do the job for them.

The team first measured the wooden fence carefully (length x height) to determine how many panels were needed. They marked reference points on the fence to ensure that the layout would be straight and aligned.

The Result

The homeowner can relax, entertain, or work in the yard without worrying about sightlines from neighbors.

Beyond privacy, the artificial green wall added visual value, softened the look of the wood, and created a modern atmosphere unseen in many residential areas.

Why Artificial Greenery Worked So Well

The low-maintenance aspect was another key benefit: the homeowner can enjoy the visual improvement without worrying about watering, trimming, or seasonal changes. The panels are durable, can last more than 5 years outdoors, and will deliver the look and function they wanted from day one.

Practical Tips

Because the surface was a timber fence, they used screws and a drill to fix the panels to it, securing each panel at multiple points (8-12 attachment points per panel). To connect adjacent panels, they used the built-in clip-and-lug system and aligned the lugs on one panel with the clips on the next.

The team then trimmed the excess panel material to make sure the green wall fit exactly within the fence dimensions.
